Another week of blistering hot burning sun, so now we have Algae starting to form , to which, I am not surprised, The Fife Council signs will be up soon, it has been so bright, but basically its not the algae that is bothering me just now, it’s the weeds, in the last few years we have seen the weeds grow at exponentially fast speeds, but nothing like this years, two weeks ago we had clear water and although we still have huge tracks of clear areas, the fish obviously just now are in the deeper areas or weedy areas and that’s where the anglers want to fish, Dry Fly Fishing is absolutely ace just now, and today an angler said to me “I was sitting in the boat wondering what fly to try next, and just happened to spot a blue damsel fly skirting over the surface, low and behold a fish jumped and swallowed it” luckily he had one and on using it had a great bit of fun with fish chasing, drowning and taking it, the fishing is great just now, anglers are all being rewarded with a very pleasant day, so I am looking at the book and it makes pretty good reading, Mike Farrell, Letham, 8 on damsel/diawl bachs/ sedge hogs, Bob Hutcheon, Cupar, 9 all returned, A Drummond, Kingskettle, 9 all returned, Graham Brailsford 15, all returned, Steve Smart 10 all returned, C McKenzie 9 all returned, Josh Simpson 4 returned, but it is worth remembering that coming fishing here at the “Goldenloch” is not like other places, we allow clients to start at virtually any time, its boat or Bank, no extra charge for boats, the well cut grass banks have seats, and the jetties have bum rests, camping is allowed with permission, late fishing is acceptable, in all we want you the angler to come and enjoy your day, this last two weeks we have had probably 10 if not more Dads and G/Dads come to teach siblings to fish, they have all enjoyed their day which we do not charge for, its important to us that new people learn to enjoy Fly Fishing.
