Chestnut Pool sits in tranquil countryside, yet only 5 minutes away from the A1 in the beautiful village of Langford, near Biggleswade. “Chestnut” (as we have become affectionately known)

is a family run fishery which offers professional and friendly advice from accomplished anglers.

The Lake

Chestnut is 3 acres in size with two islands with a cast of 18-40 meters, abundant marginal vegetation providing good holding areas for many species. Depths vary between 4ft and 6ft with various lakebed features, such as hard gravel areas and soft clay.

There are 20 swims from which you can directly cast to the islands and 8 corner swims which are very popular for anglers wanting peace and quiet, these are very good areas for bigger specimens.

The lake offers first class sport for all anglers from beginners to advanced. Chestnut is regularly featured in all the angling publications and is widely recognised as one of the top Day Ticket fisheries in the country.

Carp Fishing

The lake has a large head of Carp with a good mix of both mirrors and commons in the 5–10lb bracket. For its size Chestnut has a very large number of double figure fish to over mid twenties and anglers regularly catch large numbers of double’s in a single day session.

Night Anglers tend to get very little sleep at Chestnut with runs coming thick and fast even in the colder months. To use a quote from Carpworld’s Simon Crow on a recent feature at Chestnut ‘ after 12 hours fishing and 29 fish I had to go home as I was exhausted, what a fishery’.

Coarse fishing

For the pleasure anglers visiting Chestnut or those wishing to target some of our other specimens the fishery has a large head of Bream to 7lb, Golden Tench to 6lb, Roach and Rudd to 3lb, Crucians and hugh Perch to over 4 ½ lb.
