Goldenloch
Oct-30-Week-45-2017

October 30th, Methinks, today is the official end to summer 2017, yesterday the clock went back an hour, however today, we woke up this morning to a clear crisp early frost, and it looked like no one had told the fish, that summer was over, early anglers Eddie Henderson and Harold, were treated to the start of winter fishing, but on their arrival neither lads expected to see as many fish rising in all areas of the loch, a rise that would have put any evening summer rise to shame, the water just now is absolutely gin clear, the wind these last few days has been gentle and not overly gusty, perfect conditions, perfect water, perfect fish, one of the big advantages of having a lot of weed during the summer months was that the massive food source within it, has produced some super fit and top condition fish, we have lots of naturalised fish of 3 > 4 lbs and more, Browns, Blues and Rainbows, these fish were stocked at a kilo and have grown on, the last few days has produced some amazing results, carpet Bob, Newburgh, 6, 5 returned, keeping one at 3lbs, Stewart Milne, Glenrothes, on a day ticket, 9 all caught using black flies including dries, Brian Kemp. EX Kaptain, Kirkcaldy had 5 fish, can’t believe that, Bill Bruce, Kirkcaldy enjoying the sport had 4 all returned, Huff and Puff are being missed, their character and fun loving ways were always cheery, hoping all is going OK, a swift and speedy recovery, its way to cold out here just now, so I will try to keep you both well informed, so the revamping at the loch continues, we put hard standing in to the boat jetties last year, (was well worth it), we have renewed all our original jetties, with new improved wider and longer ones, incorporated seating, (nothing but compliments), put new seating round the loch, this year has seen a ridiculous amount of rain fall and the access up the loch side fail dramatically, mostly due to vehicles getting bogged down , a new surface repair is in hand, but more importantly we are changing the lodge, removing the old one from the bottom of the car park to the top, the new lodge will be much larger and have a kitchen, toilet and changing room, probably a log burner yet to be decided, but most definitely a table although the old giant picnic bench we have, has done exceptionally well over the years, I would like to think that a large roofed over veranda area in front of the lodge could be made, we shall see what happens, clearing the site has already started, what we envisaged is that your visit with us should be a pleasure, the environment warm and cosy, proper decent toilets and clean changing faculties, with hygiene and health and safety never as important as they are now its too easy to be complacent a move forward is required.

Fly Fishing is a Pastime, it is not only relaxing, but also rewarding, come to the “Goldenloch” enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only tranquil surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
