The Milne Graden Upper and Lower beats are situated approximately two miles downstream of Coldstream and extends to about 1.4 miles of left bank fishing at the centre of which lies the stunning policies of Milne Graden House. The combined Upper and Lower beats have 7 named pools. A former stone fishing shiel on the Upper beat has been converted to a comfortable fishing hut with a wood burning stove. There is good vehicle access to the fishing shiel from where access to the Upper beat is on foot and there is good access on foot or by four-wheel drive to the Lower beat.
The Fishing is managed by Bob Miller who has the benefit of over 30 years experience and knowledge on the beat. Either Bob or the ghillie will meet rods on the first morning of their booking to show guests the river and provide guidance as necessary.
Milne Graden benefits from its proximity to the tidal waters resulting in a good run of spring fish in addition to the late summer and autumn runs. The beat fishes particularly well in low and mid water conditions where other beats further upstream might struggle. Fish are also regularly caught when the river level is 3 feet on the Norham gauge.
Milne Graden is primarily a salmon beat but has very good runs of grilse and sea trout through the summer months. Over the years Milne Graden has also developed a reputation as an excellent sea trout fishery.
There is fishing for two rods until the 24th August, three rods until 9th November and two rods from 11th November until the close of season. There is excellent bank fishing through the mod and bottom reaches of the beat, otherwise fishing is from one of three boats or by wading.
A full time ghillie is employed on the beat and his services are included in the price. From 26th August an additional ghillie is also provided until 9th November.
The Milne Graden Estate has developed a collection of seven, superb period holiday properties in idyllic locations offering a high standard of accommodation for 2 to 20 guests. The properties are equipped with fishing parties in mind with boot rooms and drying facilities. Dogs are welcome at most properties and all are wireless broadband enabled and all have Sky TV. Daily housekeeping and catering are also available. For further information, prices and availability please contact:
