Goldenloch
Nov-05-Week-46-2017

Seriously chilly these past few days, I would imagine for a few of the guys fishing in the past week, this will probably be there last outing for the season 2017, so how has this season 2017 faired, well we have stocked just a bit over 3000 fish, and a quick and I mean really quick tally of the book, some 1800 fish were caught and dispatched, but unfortunately some catches don’t get recorded, so this figure needs to include Osprey kill (approx 100 fish) plus Otter kill and of course natural wastage, it is more like to be another 650 on top of the 1800, which leaves approx 600 in the loch over the coming winter months, these figures are very similar to last season, which surprised me a little, as it seemed like this year was a lot quieter, mostly I think, due to this summers poor weather, which definitely has had a pronounced effect on the fly hatches, instigating the lack of fish rising in the summer months, this is not been a great season for hatching flies, yet it has been one of the most exciting seasons for fish getting caught using dry flies, for some reason the fish have been very active in certain areas, and produced great fishing for those that knew where to go, and what to use. At the Goldenloch we try very hard to give the angler and the fish, the nearest to natural environment, the fish come from our supplier ( every fish stocked unless a special size is requested is 1 kilo or 2.2lb ) they are introduced discretely into the water, allowing them to convert to the abundant natural feeding, we feel strongly that these fish which are feeding on the shrimp, snails, buzzers whatever is available, taste so much better, this seems to be borne out by the compliments on the fighting ability and quality of the fish caught by anglers, our remit has been and still is after nearly 40 years in this business “Fishing is for fun and relaxing”, weed was a bit of a problem for some, plus a touch of Algae but nothing too serious, this week has been good for some, Billy and Colin from Newburgh and Perth, doing really well of the jetties, boat fishing this week has been spoilt by the wind Leslie Mitchell, Dunfermline, caught a few a few and two guys on the bank both had 4 each, Huff and Puff out today, nice to see them, but both feeling the cold left pretty sharpish, Ian Wallace, Kinglassie, out yesterday had a good day 12, all returned, and back today getting only 5, his boat partner Pele, I am not sure but I think 1, but he lost a few,
